In the search for a morning prayer congregation I found a small storefront masjid in Richmond, VA. I arrived just as prayer time came in and saw lights dimly on and ceiling fans whirling. The space is very modest - one room, a carpet adorned with prayer rugs, it seems to mainly be a dawah center.
I went in, sat, read some Quran and then made the calls to prayer, prayed and then left.
while there this thought came to me:
Hold onto memories of things you are ashamed of as reminders of what not to do and not wistfully as a playful heedless time of fun you would love to go back to.
