Message to Paul Ryan:
Good Morning Mr. Ryan. Congratulations are in order for being selected by Mitt Romney to be his running mate. You two make a great pair.
Now, to the message that I must make plain to you and Mr. Romney. Last night you essentially blamed the country’s malaise on the fact that Mr. Obama did not “create jobs”. Interesting.
In fact, the entire convention has been a parade of would-be future nominees talking about how in their state they “created jobs”. Taking credit for incremental increases in job growth in their states.
At the same time your party is beating its chest with talk about the power of the Federal Government to step aside and let real hardworking Americans get to the business of “creating jobs”.
Which is it?
Does the Government create jobs or do the people? At which point does either get to take credit?
If you create these mythical hidden jobs, Mr. Ryan, will you then take credit for it? Should we assume that you did not do it and hold you accountable for NOT creating jobs if small businesses did so instead of you?
Let's say that Mr. Obama did “create jobs”. What then does he, as the head of the executive branch of office, have the power to dole out? It seems to me that the only jobs he can actually create are Federal jobs. Like the armed forces, or any of the agencies.
Are you proposing, Mr. Ryan, that you will shrink the size of the Federal Government AND create more jobs? What about those people now OUT of a job?
Let's get real. This is a problem that both the Democrats and the Republicans have. They look down on the electorate as though we are idiots. They speak to us like children.
No President is EVER going to give you a job. Not unless you have been working for him personally, on his campaign, or someone in your family is connected to his family or friends.
Presidents do not have the power to “create jobs”.
Any executive branch leader can “encourage” job growth by whatever economic means they wish; attract business, create a calm climate for investing, find the right mix of free market and regulation, make sure that all business benefits from having clean water, effective trash removal, safe roads and bridges, and other critical infrastructure, etc.
Let me repeat: No executive office-holder “creates jobs” unless they fund the fundamental infrastructure systems like water, energy, and transportation, etc. And heck, they can hire all the soldiers that they want, provided Congress goes along with their plans.
Mr. Ryan, you and Mr. Romney never talk about infrastructure unless it is dirty polluting short-lived job growth items like gas drilling, pipeline laying, or mountain-destroying coal extraction. Those jobs come and go. We need jobs that stay. We need jobs funded by people that are committed to creating value and valuable heirloom quality products and building communities and families in the process and not just to filling their offshore bank accounts with gobs of cash.
Will you, Mr. Ryan and Mr. Romney, have the guts to tell all the Offshore Account holders that they will actually have to invest their money in real projects to actually create jobs? No, I do not think so. Looking at oneself in the mirror is a hard thing to do.
On that note, we in the general electorate that can go in a booth and vote for anyone we damn well please are idiots. We are damn fools thinking that any elected official is going to change what we have not decided we will change ourselves.
Stop looking for these elected officials to change your life. Change it yourself. Rep. Ryan you have the country’s ear - talk to us plainly, stop lying. Stop telling us that Government is not the answer but that YOUR government is. Stop convincing us to vote for you when you are basically saying the same thing that you say Mr. Obama is saying.
We are not buying it.
